From: AngryBlackBitch That preacher in Florida’s commitment to calling down fubar boggles the mind! He and his Islam hating church went from planning to burn the Koran on September 11…to not planning to burn the Koran ‘cause they thought they'd extorted a deal from the NYC mosque building people…to maybe still planning to burn the Koran - they’re not sure but they’ll let us know ‘cause their deal may not have been a deal so the bonfire may or may not be off.Lawd, have mercy. No really...mercy!!!This preacher is more than an asshole…he and his followers are assholes with power. And he seems to be confused his damn self…because he thinks he struck a deal with the person or people planning to build a mosque in New York but the person or people who are planning to build that facility deny that a conversation took place, so now I’m left thinking that this preacher is either hearing voices or flat out lied about having struck that deal. And if he lied about the deal…or even if he

From: Black 'n Bougie Step yo' game up ~ sell your personal brand as a "product of choice" not cut-rate generic
I know, I know - I hear your collective groans. Everyone is just sooo tired of talking about "creating a personal brand", "maximizing a brand", "making the best out of Brand You." Believe me, I know. As a writer and small business owner, I get at least 30 emails a week with kindly folks wanting to help me with my branding strategy.
But what I've come to realize is, business or no business - everybody has a brand. You are born representing your parents' brand but soon enough you are out there on your own and the things you say and do shape how your personal brand is being perceived.
A "product of choice" is generally wildly successful. A brand that you will pay more for just on name alone. It's usually one that invokes good feelings just by hearing the brand name - Coca~Cola, Godiva, Häagen-Dazs - all good. Enron, BP, Exxon - not so good. Same thing with people as a brand - Adolf Hitler

From: Prometheus 6 - All respect and no restraint Fortunately these particular ones can't vote.
Researchers give robots the capability for deceptive behavior
A robot deceives an enemy soldier by creating a false trail and hiding so that it will not be caught. While this sounds like a scene from one of the Terminator movies, it's actually the scenario of an experiment conducted by researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology as part of what is believed to be the first detailed examination of robot deception.
"We have developed algorithms that allow a robot to determine whether it should deceive a human or other intelligent machine and we have designed techniques that help the robot select the best deceptive strategy to reduce its chance of being discovered," said Ronald Arkin, a Regents professor in the Georgia Tech School of Interactive Computing.
The results of robot experiments and theoretical and cognitive deception modeling were published online on September 3 in the International Journal of Social Robotics. Becaus

From: AverageBro.com Let's face it, the commercially viable side of the cRap game's been dead for awhile.[1] There's seemingly a new gimmick every week to try and pry what little money folks that still don't illegally download have to spend. And thus, it's not much of a surprise to see Will Smith's obnoxious kids[2] now layin' down tracks. They aren't the first 2nd generation rappers (Lil' Easy E, Corey Gunz, and Diggy Simmons have already been there) but they just might be the first brother and sister tandem. Correct me if I'm wrong.Anyways, the girl, Willow has a "debut single" that's got the streets (aka: Black Folks Twitter) on fire right now. The song's popularity immediately resulted in Willow signing a deal with Roc Nation.[3] All things considered, this isn't half bad. Seriously, why doesn't sound any worse than Lil' Mama. Hell, I don't know if she's even technically rappin' here, but even if she's singing (with lots of autotune) is this any worse than Rihanna's typical playlist-friendly drivel? I

From: AverageBro.com Sports fans nationwide prolly still have their panties in a bunch after last night's thrilling Saints/Vikes game kicked off the NFL season, but ya'll know how I feel about the NFL and football in general. I really don't give a crap. Football's just a diversion to keep me moderately entertained until NBA training camp opens just 3 weeks from now. The first preseason game is October 3rd. John Wall's first game in a Wiz jersey isn't too long after that, and yeah, I'll be there.Until then, well, at least there's something to watch on TV in the interim. If you're an NFL fan, and suddenly feeling slighted, then welcome to my world, buddy this open post's for you. Anyways, I'll throw a few questions out there, just to get the ball rolling:Darrell Revis - Will his holdout end up effecting team chemistry, for a Jets squad that's clearly on some SuperBowl Or Die sh*t?
From: The Black Factor In the workplace, silence can kill you. Suffering in silence, while someone is bullying you, harassing you, retaliating against you or discriminating against you is a form of active participation in your mistreatment. Silence signals your explicit agreement. By not complaining, you’ve spoken. You’ve said that everything is okay.Only you can decide if you prefer to remain quiet, rather than speak out against abuse. Just keep in mind that silence won’t change anything. A person, who is capable of violating Federal statutes (read: breaking the laws) prohibiting discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in the workplace, is probably not going to wake up one morning and decide that they’re wrong and should cease this behavior. In fact, it’s more likely that they will escalate their behavior. If they’ve been getting away with potentially illegal behavior and their target hasn’t spoken out, they will have the impression that they can get away with anything. If this person has a

Thankfully, his Koran burning is off for the moment. Still, he is lapping up his 15 minutes and using his new found power and fame to negotiate with the Muslims from that center at Ground Zero. If you don't build your Mosque I won't burn your Koran. Ain't that a b&^%#?! But can you blame the guy for being like the lyrics from that Jean Carne song all of a sudden? The President! As I listened to her keynote talk: "Diversity in STEM: The New American Imperative", I fought hard, very hard, to control myself. I was not only super excited about seeing her in person, but was so moved by her words. She discussed shy science literacy matters for everyone, EVERYONE, and why bringing more women and under-represented minorities into STEM career tracks is critical to our nation's success. As she put it, training ALL of our students in STEM prepares them to take jobs in innovation; or alternatively for those that do not wish to become scientists or engineers, we want them to be ready to understand and use new technologies and make decisions about science and tech policy or personal matters is impo

From: Prometheus 6 - All respect and no restraint This summer the Obama White House promised Arkansas Democratic Sen. Blanche L. Lincoln that farmers in her state would receive $1.5 billion, ostensibly for disaster-relief aid. Cynics, however, say the money is a payoff to the farmers along with their relatives, friends and other Arkansans to get them to vote for Lincoln in November.
An Associated Press article reported that major newspaper editorials have castigated the deal, saying that the plan will bypass congressional approval and benefit wealthy farmers. A Washington Post editorial, mentioned in the AP article, declared, "If you think this looks like a back-door plan to almost double almost everyone's subsidy, we agree with you."

The two others are from NPR's All Things Considered, and Tell Me More. They focus on the wave of Islamophobia that is taking over the Country (whipped up by Republican media), and efforts that are being taken to deal with it.Here is a reposting of an old story that I highlighted a few years ago that illustrates the impact that this idiocy has on real people. It's a story told from the perspective of a Muslim family. This is what the Republican media, led by folks like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, is doing to people. And they know exactly what they are doing. They know that their propaganda whips their followers into a frenzy...and they know what kind of risk that carries - particularly the risk of people being attacked. The deposits on location had been made -- the organizations had an agreement with the Association of Graduates to use the Association of Graduates building on Air Force Academy property for the event, and invitations had already been extended to Congress members, allied military officers, and leaders in the lesbian and gay community.Just so Blenders know, Outserve had invited me to the event as a supportive member of the LGBT blogging community. I was looking forward to the dinner to honor those who have served in silence and to be able to liveblog the event for you. Now that's not going to happen. Here's why.
From: Mirror On America Blogger Pamela Merritt challenges perceptions (from other Blacks) about what "Black" is supposed to mean. Love her response. Idiots like the ones she is addressing annoy the hell out of me. Worst than flies at a good barbecue. Can we just flush the term and concept of "Blackness" down the toilet once and for all? Blacks aren't a monolith, and as such, there can be no one term to describe them. This is why I am annoyed when someone tries to put me into a box, especially a racial one.
